I’ve been building web sites for the last ten years, and as long as I keep learning, I’ll keep making them. I focus on creating usable, accessible web sites. I’m also doing more print work these days. I’m interested in communication, and I’m interested in problem solving. So whether I’m reworking an ad layout for the fifth time or debugging some Javascript, I’m enjoying my work. You are, of course, free to skip right to the pictures (and have been since the beginning of this paragraph). Or if acronyms and action words are more your style, please head right to my résumé.
When ParentHelp123.org launches this year, Washington residents will be able to easily model their households and discover if they qualify for a number of state-sponsored programs including health care and WIC. After a straightforward online interview, they’ll simply download their applications as filled PDFs. As part of a team of three, I’ve been responsible for much of the user interface design and coding, as well as accessible HTML/CSS coding and client-side scripting. This project has also served as my entry into the Ruby on Rails framework.
As an employee of AAA for the last two & a half years, I’ve also created or redesigned email newsletters that reach tens of thousands of subscribers, reworked membership newsletters, handbooks, brochures, and laid out more posters and ads than I can remember.
